De Burca promises thousands of green jobs for Dublin
Senator De Burca also highlighted the lack of accountability and transparency in the Parliament and pledged to publish details of her European Parliament expenses on her website and call for mandatory registration of corporate lobbyists in Brussels.
Senator De Burca said, “The Green Party held a seat in Europe between 1994 and 2004. I am determined to win back this European seat for the Green Party and provide a green voice for Dublin in Europe.
“With the assistance of the European Union, the move towards a green economy in Ireland will secure our energy future and stimulate our economy. The Green Party support a ‘Green New Deal’ that would see €500 billion made available to create five million new jobs in green energy and clean technology.
“The theme of my campaign is ‘What do you stand for?’ I am asking voters to name the issues that are important to them and highlight how these issues can be tackled by the European Union. It is time to open the European Parliament to the citizens and start a conversation that can affect positive change for Dublin,” said Senator De Burca.
Voters can send their thoughts by email or text to the campaign website ‘www.whatistandfor.ie’. Voters can also record their thoughts in the ‘What do you stand for?’ video booth that will accompany Senator de Burca on the canvass trail.
