Green Party targets YouTube to spread the message
The Green Party has announced its shortlist of film clips, devised by a selection of Irish filmmakers and animators in a competition to promote the Party and its messages. The films have been uploaded to YouTube for voting and two finalists will go forward to Party’s National Convention, where the overall winner will be decided.
Green Party Senator and European Candidate for Dublin Deirdre de Burca said: “The internet offers a fast and accessible way to send a political message. There are numerous blogs and forums where people can discuss and debate politics and we wanted to go one step further with this.”Our competition has been designed to allow as many people as possible access the entries. All qualifying clips have been uploaded on YouTube and the two clips watched by the most viewers, will be shown before the at the Green Party annual convention in March and voted on by delegates. The winner will receive €1,000.”
The entries received cover topics such as recycling, water conservation, energy use and climate change, with one film featuring TV presenter Michelle Doherty. Senator de Burca said: “We’re delighted with the standard of clips received. Some are very humorous, while others take a serious approach. Every clip however, promotes the work that Green Party is doing in some way and we hope that as many people as possible will access the clips through this viral system.”
