Greens to select Dublin
MEP candidate on Saturday

 When:2-4pm, Saturday, 13 September 2008

Where: Liberty Hall Theatre, Eden Quay, Dublin 1

***Please note: There will be a briefing for media at 1.30pm***

Green Party members from the Dublin area will gather in Liberty Hall this weekend to formally select a candidate to run for the Party in next year’s European elections. As of close of nominations on 22 August 2008, Senator Déirdre de Búrca was the Green Party’s sole nominee as a candidate.

Members will also select the order of candidates for the replacement list. Roderic O’Gorman and David Geary – both local election candidates in Fingal County Council’s Castleknock and Dublin City Council’s North Inner City wards respectively – submitted applications to be included on the list.

All Green Party members living in the Dublin European constituency are entitled to vote if they are paid up for 2008 and have completed a six month probation period by the date of the selection meeting (approximately 600-700 people.)
