De Búrca calls for submissions on School Catchment Transport Boundaries

December 1, 2007

Green Party Senator Déirdre de Búrca has called for members of the public to make written submissions to the Joint Committee on Education and Science School Catchment Transport Boundaries.

According to De Búrca the committee is seeking written submissions as part of a broad process of public consultation. ‘’The school catchment boundaries have not been reviewed
for approximately forty years’’ says the Green Party Senator. ‘’Huge social and demographic changes have happened in counties like Wicklow since those school catchment boundaries were originally agreed’’ she says. ‘’There is real need to review the boundaries as soon as possible’’.

The closing date for submissions to the Joint Committee on Education and Science is 11 January 2008. The Chairperson of the Committee is Green Party TD, Paul Gogarty.
