De Búrca represents Government at Consistory Ceremony for Archbishop

Green Party Senator is a member of a Government Delegation attending the
Consistory Ceremony for the Creation of New Cardinals in Rome this weekend
to witness Archbishop Sean Brady’s creation as a Cardinal.

Senator de Búrca will accompany President Mary McAleese, Minister for
Foreign Affairs Dermot Ahern and Deputy Noel Grealish as part of the Irish
Delegation

His Holiness Pope Benedict will be present at the Consistory Ceremony on
Saturday at Villa Spada in the Vatican and again on Sunday at a special
Mass and Conferral of Rings.

Irish Ambassador Fahey will also host a lunch in honour of President and Dr
McAleese and Cardinal Brady on Sunday.

“I am very honoured to have been selected to attend this auspicious
ceremony on behalf of the Government” says Senator de Búrca.”It is a very
proud and important day for Ireland. I intend to represent the people of
County Wicklow and of Ireland by my presence at the weekend’s ceremonies
