De Búrca congratulates Aughrim on winning Tidy Towns competition Green Party Senator, Déirdre de Búrca congratulated the Tidy Town’s Committee and the people of Aughrim on having been chosen as Ireland ’s Tidiest Town in 2007.

“This news comes as little surprise to any of us who live in County Wicklow and know what a clean and well looked-after town that Aughrim is” says Senator de Búrca. ”The town just goes from strength to strength. Last year Aughrim came close when it won the Tidiest Small Town category and were just one point behind the overall winner, Westport ”.

Senator de Búrca points out that Aughrim was chosen from over 800 other competitors in this year’s National Tidy Towns Competition and also received the award of Ireland ’s Tidiest Small Town .

“The Parliamentary Group of the Green Party will be holding its two-day Autumn Think-In at Macreddin Village in Aughrim on September 19th and 20th this year” says Senator de Búrca. “We chose this location for our meeting because Aughrim is clearly a Green Town , and sets an example for what other towns around the country can achieve with the right determination, leadership and the involvement of its residents”.
